Come to Victoria in May for the 31st Annual Conference of the Canadian Evaluation Society. The BC Chapter of CES invites you to "Go Green, Gold and Global" and explore new horizons for evaluation. Whatever your area of interest, we are confident that the 2010 CES Conference will provide informative presentations and workshops that are relevant to your practice in the field of evaluation in Canada and internationally.

The Conference will be held at the Victoria Conference Centre and Fairmont Empress Hotel in downtown. Overlooking Victoria's famous Inner Harbour, our location offers beautiful scenery and is walking distance from a wide variety of shops and attractions. Plan to enjoy our west coast hospitality and experience Victoria's British flavour. Our many attractions include First Nations culture, spectacular gardens, museums, heritage homes, and for the adventurous, whale watching.

The CES encourages evaluators and related professionals to join this tradition of sharing a spirit of ever increasing openness to knowledge diversity. Evaluation professionals from governments, post-secondary institutions, private practice, non-profits, and the voluntary sector will come together to discuss, debate and learn from each other. CES members will discuss the latest developments in evaluation in Canada. As well, we invite non-members and evaluators from outside Canada to share information and their experience on evaluation initiatives. We expect participation from colleagues in health, education, environment, natural resources, social sciences, and economic and community development sectors among others.

Our Conference themes can be summarized as:

  • Going Green – evaluation in the context of managing positive environmental change.
  • Going Gold – evaluation of the impacts and effects of programs associated with the 2010 Winter Olympics and striving for excellence in evaluation.
  • Going Global – evaluation of programs and policies in the context of BC's international connections.
  • New Horizons For Evaluation – exploration of emerging evaluation issues in both theory and practice, particularly in the three main themes.

If you are passionate about evaluation or want to learn more about this field, mark these dates on your calendar:

  • Pre-Conference Workshops: May 2 and May 5, 2010
  • Conference: May 3 to May 5, 2010
