MARCH 22, 2010 UPDATE

The 31st Annual Conference of the Canadian Evaluation Society (CES) is now just weeks away and we are really excited about the program in store for conference registrants! The Victoria Conference Centre is definitely going to be THE place to be for evaluators from across Canada and around the world.

Our theme: "Going Green, Gold, and Global" will capture the spirit of the emerging environmental issues in evaluation, reflect the legacy of the 2010 Olympic games in our quest for gold medal standards of excellence in evaluation, and unite us in a global perspective in the field of evaluation. Whatever your area of interest, we are confident that the 2010 CES Conference will provide informative presentations and workshops that are relevant to your practice in the field of evaluation in Canada and internationally. Don't be left out when the world's evaluators gather on Canada's West Coast to examine new horizons in evaluation.

The Conference will be held at the elegant Victoria Conference Centre and Fairmont Empress Hotel in downtown Victoria. Overlooking Victoria's famous Inner Harbour, our location offers beautiful scenery and is within walking distance from a wide variety of shops and attractions. After each inspiring day of learning and networking at the conference, plan to enjoy our west coast hospitality and experience Victoria's British flavour. Our many attractions include First Nations culture, spectacular gardens, museums, heritage homes, and for the adventurous, whale watching. Travel companions and family members will find no shortage of things to do during conference sessions.

Among the keynote speakers and panelists scheduled to present are:

  • Simon Jackson – Canadian founder and chairman of the Spirit Bear Youth Coalition, the largest youth-run environmental organization in the world with almost six million members.
  • Jennifer Walinga – Double Gold Medal Canadian Olympian and Royal Roads University Assistant Professor specializing in Organizational Studies.
  • Robert Lahey, John R. Pfeiffer, and Agustin Caso – A remarkable trio with rich experience with federal M&E initiatives in Canada, the USA, and Mexico.
  • Halle Preskill (AEA President 2007), Linda Lee (CES Past President, Nancy Porteous, CES Past President and IOCE Past Treasurer) and Florence Etta (AfrEA President) – A powerful panel with a sweeping perspective on evaluation.

In addition, there will be over 150 concurrent sessions, poster sessions, panels, and workshops from which to tailor your own conference plan. Registrants and presenters will include colleagues in health, education, environment, natural resources, social sciences, economics and community development sectors among others. There will also be exhibitors featuring products and services.

Don't delay if you haven't already registered, be sure to do so today!
